In this repair video we will be working an ipad mini 2 that has a damaged digitizer FPC connector. We wanted to experiment and use solder paste to solder the digitizer connector in place rather then pre apply leaded solder to the pads. Using solder paste to solder an iPad mini 2 digitizer fpc connector turned out to be a bad idea. It’s more time consuming specially that allot of tiny smd components are very close to the connector. Using solder paste caused bridges to nearby components and FPC connector pins which ended up taking more time to fix compared to the other know method that we use where we apply leaded solder to the pads and heat everything down in place.
